Susan J. Burchfield

Susan J. Burchfield, LLC, Independent Counselor is a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor, Supervisor (LPCC-S). She is also a Certified Mediator and co-founder of the Assisting Our Kids (AOK) parent education program. Ms. Burchfield has worked with individuals, couples and families for over 30 years. Her areas of expertise include individual, marital and family therapy, group facilitation, consultations, mediation, training, supervision and diagnosis and treatment of mental and emotional disorders.

COUNSELING EXPERIENCE

Ms. Burchfield focuses on solution-based counseling. Her goal is to help her clients quickly become more emotionally stable; therefore, she often utilizes homework assignments. Client confidentiality is very important to Ms. Burchfield, which is why outside of safety issues, all matters discussed are private.

Along with her counseling services, Ms. Burchfield provides individual and group counseling at Crisis Care Line’s House of Transition and is a member of their community collaborative. She has also provided training and/or public presentations on stress reduction, conflict resolution, increasing communication skills and organizational goals.

Ms. Burchfield has been trained in the collaborative process as a Family Specialist. In her role as a family specialist and as a licensed counselor and mediator, she has spent time assisting families as they navigate the legal system. Ms. Burchfield’s expertise as a counselor and mediator also allows her to assist parents with regard to parental rights and responsibilities, children’s reaction to divorce and the development of parental access plans.

As a member of a collaborative team and facilitator of AOK, Ms. Burchfield is able to assist parents and children transition as the structure of the family undergoes change. She encourages parents to focus on the best interest of the children, as well as remaining active and involved in their children’s lives.

EXTRACURRICULAR ACTIVITIES

Ms. Burchfield is a member of Van Wert First United Methodist Church and plays bass with their praise band. She enjoys reading, gardening, traveling, dancing, pickle ball and other forms of exercise.

EDUCATION

Ms. Burchfield received her undergraduate degree in psychology from the University of Toledo, her Master’s of Science Degree in Pre-Clinical Psychology from St. Francis College and has completed 20 post master’s semester hours for her L.P.C.C. through Heidelberg College. She is a certified mediator through the Supreme Court of Ohio.

Katyln Short

Katlyn J. Short

Licensed Social Worker

KATLYN J. SHORT

Katlyn J. Short is a Licensed Independent Social Worker.  She became a licensed social worker in 2012 and became a licensed independent social worker in 2023.

COUNSELING EXPERIENCE

Katlyn has worked in the private practice setting since 2017.  Katlyn has experience working with both adults and children, as well as providing individual, family, and marital therapy.  She enjoyed her previous work in various settings including a state behavior health hospital, a corrections facility, inpatient dual-diagnosis treatment, public schools, and community mental health.

Katlyn believes in the healing and growth that can occur through counseling services.  She provides a safe, confidential space for clients to be a part of the solution-focused approach to dealing with the challenges they face.

She is a certified Youth Mental Health First Aid instructor, that certifies adults in assisting young people who are experiencing mental health challenges. She is a certified CPI Non-Violent Crisis Intervention instructor, that provides staff with the skills to safely recognize and respond to everyday crisis situations. She has received additional training in Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) and Treating Youth with Sexually Maladaptive Behaviors.

EXTRACURRICULAR ACTIVITIES

Katlyn is married and resides in Van Wert County with her husband and their three children. Katlyn enjoys reading, previously coaching volleyball, spending time outdoors, and spending time with family. Katlyn attends New Horizons Church in Rockford, OH and enjoys serving in their children’s ministry.

EDUCATION

Katlyn obtained her Bachelors in Social Work from Ohio University in 2012. She then continued her education at Ohio University, receiving her Masters in Social Work in 2014.

Britany Inkrott

BRITANY INKROTT

Britany Inkrott is a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor. She specializes in working with individuals with trauma and couples therapy.

COUNSELING EXPERIENCE

Britany has experience working with all ages. She has worked with multiple Mental Health Disorders as well as having experience working with families and couples through traumatic events or situations. She specializes in working with Couples to resolve conflict and resolve relationship issues. Britany has worked with individuals and families to focus on strengths and identifying unique positive qualities. Britany offers spiritual counseling to those who are interested and also works with clients to improve relationships, thought patterns, self-care, and overall wellness.

EXTRACURRICULAR ACTIVITIES

Britany is married and resides in Allen County with her husband and two kids. She enjoys church activities, family time, crafting, outdoor activities, shopping, and being a momma to her little ones.

EDUCATION

Britany received her Undergraduate Degree in Human Development and Family Studies in 2015 from Bowling Green State University. She continued her education at Bowling Green, receiving her Masters in Mental Health Counseling in 2018.

Sarah White

Licensed Professional Counselor

SARAH WHITE

Sarah White is not available for new client appointments after 5:00 pm.

Sarah is a Licensed Professional Counselor and joins our office after a successful career as a school counselor.

COUNSELING EXPERIENCE

Sarah joins our practice, coming to us after serving as a school counselor where she focused on adolescent needs and supporting families. She brings a wide variety of skills, interventions, and techniques to her practice. Recognizing that each individual comes with unique experiences and needs, Sarah uses the most appropriate approach(es) to meet each client where they are. She is passionate about providing clients a safe and inclusive space to meet their counseling needs. Sarah is committed to the clients we serve and is looking forward to providing therapeutic services to help meet the needs of the community.

EXTRACURRICULAR ACTIVITIES

Sarah is married and resides in Van Wert County. She and her husband are proud parents of two boys.  She enjoys traveling, reading and most of all, spending time with family and friends. 

EDUCATION

Sarah received a Bachelor of Science in Education from Bowling Green State University, with a specialization as an Intervention Specialist. She went on to receive her graduate degree, also from Bowling Green State University, where she received a Master of Education, earning her a School Counseling License. After many years in the field of education, Sarah enrolled in graduate work at Indiana Wesleyan University where she completed a Post Masters of Counseling, and has passed the National Counselor Exam.

Jacey is an Art Therapy Practicum Student

Jacey Eikenbary is a practicing artist, educator, and art therapist in training. She has used art and the power of creating throughout her life as a form of self-expression and healing. She understands that art has the ability to unlock emotions, foster self-discovery, and promote growth and she is committed to helping others heal and express themselves through creativity.

Experience

Jacey has had 6 years of experience teaching art and working with young students around the world and is dedicated to creating a safe and nurturing environment for not only children, but also a wide population of clients. It is her mission to foster the exploration of thoughts and emotions through various artistic mediums and to offer another possible avenue of healing.

Education

Jacey earned her Bachelor’s degree in Art Education (K-12) from Ball State University. She is currently completing her Master’s degree in Counseling with a concentration in Art Therapy from Pennsylvania Western University.

Stacy McAdams

Stacy McAdams

Stacy is a Licensed Independent Social Worker with Supervision designation (LISW-S).  She became a licensed social worker in 2015 and became a licensed independent social worker in 2018.

Counseling Experience

Stacy has worked in a school setting since 2016 and has had experience with crisis work in the hospital setting as well as outpatient therapy. Stacy has provided therapy for both children and families and also has a strong desire to work with couples. She has a strong passion for assisting youth and families overcome life challenges and utilizes a strengths-based, solution-focused approach. Stacy strives to provide a safe, inclusive, and confidential space for each client that she serves. Along with her role in the school setting, Stacy is also a certified CPI Non-Violent Crisis Intervention instructor.

Extracurricular Activities

Stacy is married and resides just outside Van Wert County with her husband and their three children. Stacy enjoys being outdoors, reading, running, and spending time with her family and friends.

Stacy obtained her Bachelors in Social Work from Ohio University in 2015. She then continued her education at University of Toledo, receiving her Masters in Social Work in 2016. She received her School Social Work certificate for The Ohio State University in 2017.
