KATLYN J. SHORT
Katlyn J. Short is a Licensed Independent Social Worker. She became a licensed social worker in 2012 and became a licensed independent social worker in 2023.
COUNSELING EXPERIENCE
Katlyn has worked in the private practice setting since 2017. Katlyn has experience working with both adults and children, as well as providing individual, family, and marital therapy. She enjoyed her previous work in various settings including a state behavior health hospital, a corrections facility, inpatient dual-diagnosis treatment, public schools, and community mental health.
Katlyn believes in the healing and growth that can occur through counseling services. She provides a safe, confidential space for clients to be a part of the solution-focused approach to dealing with the challenges they face.
She is a certified Youth Mental Health First Aid instructor, that certifies adults in assisting young people who are experiencing mental health challenges. She is a certified CPI Non-Violent Crisis Intervention instructor, that provides staff with the skills to safely recognize and respond to everyday crisis situations. She has received additional training in Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) and Treating Youth with Sexually Maladaptive Behaviors.
EXTRACURRICULAR ACTIVITIES
Katlyn is married and resides in Van Wert County with her husband and their three children. Katlyn enjoys reading, previously coaching volleyball, spending time outdoors, and spending time with family. Katlyn attends New Horizons Church in Rockford, OH and enjoys serving in their children’s ministry.
EDUCATION
Katlyn obtained her Bachelors in Social Work from Ohio University in 2012. She then continued her education at Ohio University, receiving her Masters in Social Work in 2014.
